5 Questions: Mai-Li (Mutewatch)

How's this for some awesome digital wrist SWAG!?...

Today the great Mutewatch launches exclusively in DK. @ Storm, and it's definitely worth checking out!

Some time back I had the pleasure of meeting Mai-Li, the founder of Mutewatch for a quick "5 Questions" about the product and the ideas behind!

Read the interview below and after the jump to find out more!...

1. What were your inspirations for the Mutewatch?

“It was a combination of many things, like a simple Padlock, old digital watches and my boyfriend not being able to wake up because he worked nights. We wanted it to be as simple as possible, because simplicity is king.“

5 Questions: Mai-Li (Mutewatch)

2. Who is the perfect buyer of a Mutewatch?

“There is no specific buyer for Mutewatch, but we have worked with 4 different mindsets/profiles. There’s the cool persons, the busy persons, the unstructured persons, and the super structured persons. But really the watch is for everyone!”

5 Questions: Mai-Li (Mutewatch)

3. Why should we buy a Mutewatch as apposed to a more traditional watch, like Rolex etc.?

“Personally I like to buy things with a story, and things that are hard to get. I wanna fight for it and have something unique. Today everyone knows Rolex and so on, and if you have the money you can have it.  The Mutewatch is more about passion and understanding the product.”

5 Questions: Adam Tensta

Damn been so busy lately, that our "5 Questions" interviews are backing up!

2 weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting Adam Tensta and his "Respect My Hustle" crew including Dida and Babak Azarmi. The meet was very pleasant and these guys are really doing big things right now - constantly on the grind! Read the interview below and after the jump to find out more!...

1. What has been your greatest experience through music?

“Well, I have been a gamer since birth and I have a big passion for arcade games. Every time a new game came out, I was the first to get it! So, when I was offered to make the theme song for the new “Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike” soundtrack I was so happy! That’s one of the greatest experiences I’ve had with music, so far!...”

5 Questions - Adam Tensta_1

2. What do you think of the state of Hip Hop contra Pop right now – in terms of more and more rappers crossing over to a more radio friendly/popular sound?

“Well, everything goes in circles, so as much as the Pop sound is popular right now, Boom-bap rap and so on will also come back strong. Like what we are seeing right now with Odd Future and other acts. It’s very interesting.

I like Hip Hop - old, new, all of it! But I mostly like the connections of genres –regardless of what it is. For example my second album is much more Pop, than my debut, but I’ve never thought about what is popular right now when I make my music.

I had the privilege of being on the forefront with my sound when my debut came out, and therefore people expect me to come with that new sound. My second album is not as groundbreaking, but it’s a way more worked through album and much more personal.”

5 Questions: Gildas Loaëc of Kitsuné

It's been way too long since "5 Questions" has been active on the blog, but now I promise it's coming back strong and we have a lot of interesting persons lined up for you. Stay tuned!...

Last week in the mist of the Distortion madness I had the pleasure of meeting Gildas Loaëc, founder of Kitsuné. He was in town to DJ a gig at Simons nightclub. We had a small chat and enjoyed the sun!

Read the whole thing after the jump!...

1. What is your relationship with Copenhagen/Denmark?

“We work with Rasmus Storm as a distributor of our music and clothing through Storm. He is the only account in Denmark. And then I have been here to DJ a few times, as I am now.

We have also made a song earlier with a Danish guy named Jeppe (Junior Senior) and we actually have a new song with him coming up with our act, The Magician (peep his latest mixtape below). Jeppe’s singing is so cool! “

2. What comes first for you music or fashion?

“Hmmm, music came first, but our fashion line is coming up more and more these years. Music moves fast and fashion is a more slow process. There are more emotions in music, but the fashion line allows us to express ourselves in another way.

My partner Masaya Kuroki does all our designs.”

3. What’s your biggest inspiration and favorite track right now?

“At the moment I’m very into an American band called “Art Revolution”. They have a strong image and a very cool sound. We are close via a project we are working on.

My favorite track right now would be “What you know” by our UK band, “Two Doors Cinema Club” (video after the jump). They are some cool lads!”

5 Questions: Eiichiro Homma (Nanamica & The North Face Purple Label)

Last week I had the pleasure of being introduced to Mr. Eiichiro Homma, Managing director/designer of the incredible brands nanamica and The North Face Purple Label, by our dear friend Rasmus Storm. This made for the perfect kick-off for our new section "5 Questions".

If you don't know the brands yet, read a short introduction and view more pics. after the jump!...

1. "The North Face Purple Label and nanamica have enjoyed great success within the last 3-4 years - what do you personally think is the key to your success?:"

"Well, I think it's because of our mix of fashion and sport technology. Our clothing is comfortable, stylish and functional and it suits well for the style that has become popular the last couple of years worldwide. Although this is nothing new for us in Japan."

5 Questions: Eiichiro Homma (Nanamica & The North Face Purple Label)_1

2. "Is it still the same team that designs The North Face Purple Label or are you solely doing nanamica?"

"Yes, we're still the same team. nanamica is our own brand and Purple Label we do on a license deal for The North Face."

3. "What is your opinion on blogs and their influence on fashion, music, design and so on?"

"I like blogs and they do have a big impact, but in Japan the magazines are still strong - despite of many closing down because of the financial crisis. I think that blogs are positive, but I enjoy a good magazine. My friends in Europe always ask me to bring them Japanese fashion magazines because of the style."

4. "What is your relationship to Copenhagen?"

"I love Scandinavia, and I have visited Denmark a couple of times, because I was visiting Helly Hansen in Norway and then came down. I was introduced to Rasmus Storm by a friend in Japan, and now he sells our line exclusively in Copenhagen/Denmark."

5. "What do you wish to have achieved in 5 years?"

"We just started introducing nanamica in the European market this year and in 5 years I want to be represented in many countries and also North America. We are also planning to open our first European flagship store - most likely in London."
